SLO Daybreak Bulletin

September & October, 2025

We Make a Difference

  • Happy Fall, All!

September and October saw SLO Daybreakers hard at work with the following:

  • The kickoff and recruitment for the Interact Club at San Luis Obispo High School, now with 30+ members and launching their first service project - a clothing drive

  • Our Drive Thru BBQ fundraiser which netted nearly $6,000

  • Our commitment to the District to sponsor four students to attend the Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA) next spring and applications distributed to students; interviews and selections in November

  • The formation of our Teacher Grant Committee; awards to be presented in December

  • Evening Socials at There Does Not Exist and Laguna Grill

  • The District 5240 Conference in Ventura

November is Rotary Foundation Month. We can be proud that all of your individual contributions as a member to the RI Foundation do good internationally, every day. For more information, click here.

We are well into our second quarter of the Rotary year and there are lots of activities, community service and fun to be had. See you there!

Proud to be Your President,
Char Rosales

On September 19, we held our Drive Thru BBQ fundraiser. Thank you to all who sold tickets, bought tickets, volunteered (including the Cal Poly Rotaract Club and SLOHS Interact Club), Community Service Director, Eric Griffith, for his leadership on this event, and Kevin Owens and The Sanctuary barbe-crew. Special appreciation to our event sponsors which ensure that more proceeds are able to go to our education grant and scholarship programs - American Riviera Bank (Dustin Reese), Carmel & Naccasha (Victor Herrera), CoVelop (Pat Arnold), Mustang Private Wealth, Obispo Wealth Management (Ryan Olson), Richardson Sotheby's International Real Estate - Linda Wilson, and Shalimar (Aasim Sajjad).
