Our speaker this coming week is Deb Geaslen, District 4 Commissioner and Treasurer for the Commission on the Status of Women & Girls, an official advisory group to the San Luis Obispo County Board of Supervisors established in 1975. The Commission identifies issues of concern to women and girls of San Luis Obispo County, provides input to County officials, and collaborates with other organizations to address the needs of women in our community.
In 2010 Deb was appointed as the District 4 Legislative Assistant to Supervisor Paul Teixeira, where she ultimately assumed the interim office and assisted the constituents until the governor made his appointment for the permanent position. In March 2019, Deb was honored to receive the San Luis Obispo County Commission on the Status of Women Wall of Fame Award for Volunteerism in SLO County for all her efforts in the community. Deb Geaslen was appointed Commissioner on December 8, 2020, assessing the needs of women and girls in the county, and using that information to better understand and serve the community. The Commission meets monthly on the second Saturday at 10 a.m. at the ACI Jet Board Room.
